July 20 Endoplasmic Marine Layer

1122 is having a food and discussion connected to their current show. They are requesting an RSVP and donation.

The Unkles family is one of Portland unsung art patrons (along with the Wannamaker's) for renting space for artist studios.

Today is a rare opportunity to look inside one, the NW Marine Art Works. For these events, the artists usually straighten their studios. And, for this one, guest artists will bring work from their studios in other warehouse spaces. Of course you are encouraged to buy art direct and experience the narratives of each artist. It's family friendly with live music, mini-golf, a kids’ painting table, and food carts. Open studios at NW Marine Art Works 2516 NW 29th. 2PM-8 Free

July 19 "Plastics"

Trash Hackers: Darcy Neal, Midori Hirose, Emma Prichard, Francesca Frattaroli, Alice Rotsztain, and more have a show made from plastic garbage. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Dug-G9xVdVs

Some of it includes plastic of many colors, primarily polyethylene. Like upcycler Denton Plastics, the Hackers shred the plastic, mix the colors and melt it back together. They were part of a beach cleanup mobile-making group project doing that at this year's Spaceness.

There is also a show by Collin Richard - re:Presence. August 3, the Hackers have a lecture and participatory workshop on the plastic process.

We usually don't publish university gallery shows, but Paragon and the PCC Sylvania Gallery often have good ones. Trash Hackers at PCC Cascade Paragon Gallery 815 N Killingsworth 4PM-7 Free
