The Northwest Design Within Reach store holds periodic engaging panel discussions and interviews. Tonight with the president of PNCA, Dr. Thomas Manley. Manley has overseen the beginning of a transformation of a small school with strictly defined traditional departments: painting, sculpture, graphic design, photography, printmaking; a dedicated, but static faculty; once part of the Art Museum. Now there are multiple buildings, more majors, an MFA program and the merger with the Museum of Contemporary Craft, which could potentially accommodate very artistic product and object designers - design within reach.
