June 6 Westside Art Openings+

First Thursday also includes the Saturday following in the afternoon.

For your +1, this morning KSMOCA hosts a talk by polymath artist Intisar Abioto. She discusses her residency at the school.

"For her KSMoCA exhibition, Abioto will showcase a photography series that focuses on Black and Indigenous stewards of the land across various landscapes—family farms, gardens, and other rural domains. As part of her residency, Abioto’s work inspired the kindergarteners in Ms. De Lara-Vargas’ class to learn about culinary herbs and a steward they engage with every day at school: Ms. Ruby, the beloved lunch lady! Photographs documenting two workshops around “stewardship” accompany Abioto’s portrait series “The Hold: Land & Water Stewards of Pacific Northwest Turtle Island” which also includes a photo of Ms. Ruby."

Please stop by the Main Office to sign in and receive a visitor pass to the school. At KSMOCA in the King K-8 School 4906 NE 6th. 10AM Free
