March 29 Nanoplastic Dough
Angela Haseltine Pozzi is a late career artist living in Bandon Oregon. She collects beach trash, plastic, and crafts it into large sculptures of the sealife it is impacting.
It is impacting us too. Most salt in food is processed from seawater. Our single use plastics find their way to the ocean where they are battered into smaller and smaller pieces. Those nanoplastics end up in table salt and in processed foods. www.scientificamerican.com/article/from-fish-to-humans-a-microplastic-invasion-may-be-taking-a-toll/.
The work is accessible, not art school-driven art. That's good, because the message needs to reach everyone. Her project is documented at www.washedashore.org.
The talk is part of the international Creative Mornings monthly. It is almost always sold out in advance. Creative Mornings talk https://creativemornings.com/talks/angela-haseltine-pozzi at the Evergreen 618 SE Alder 8:30AM Free
Stacy Elaine Dacheux is a multi artist from LA. She opens her drawings show, Dough, tonight. The show includes her super 8 film and live readings by local writers 7PM-8:30. There is a writers conference in town, so this garage gallery will be host to events Saturday (and Thursday March 28.) All the information is at www.1122gallery.com/workshops--events.html. Some of the events are designed for children. At 1122 Gallery 1122gallery.com, gallery in a garage, 1122 SE 88th. 6PM-10 Free

March 27 Women Are
Alla Nazimova (1879-1945) was a groundbreaking Russian immigrant to America in 1905. Her story is fascinating - look it up. She produced and stared the silent film Salomé in 1923. It is part of the Fin de Cinema series, always beautiful; and part of the POWFest, likely to sell out. At Holocene 1001 SE Morrison. Doors 8PM, show 9. $10

March 13-17 Skeleton Flower
Seattle's Degenerate Art Ensemble is a long operating musical and performance project. They are inspired by the Japanese modern dance theater Butoh and contemporary music composition. The skeleton flower, diphylleia grayi, has a magical property. When it rains, the petals become transparent, like glass. Skeleton Flower is the new performance by the Degenerate Art Ensemble. It tells a personal, not as rare as it should be, story of family trauma; and, not as common as it should be, transcendence through creative endeavors. This is a very popular event in an intimate venue with a basis in psychodrama. Degenerate Art Ensemble http://www.degenerateartensemble.com/ at the Erickson Theatre 1524 Harvard Ave, Seattle $25
