August 1 Westside Art Openings

Gallery 114 has two social practice artists this month. James Reed, from South Africa has ...not not: in view of..., mixed media pieces using organic material. Longtime Portland space maker, Gary Wiseman, has The Incomplete and Unfinished Works Vol. 1 Purple, a Storm (Are We Dead or Just Dreaming?) Glean is a project for a select group of artists to make art from trash. This year the artists are Vanessa Calvert, Jeremy Okai Davis, Asa Mease, Miel-Margarita Paredes and Lauren Prado. The Jewish Museum has a permanent collection and traveling shows. They will be open until 8 on First Thursday in the previous Contemporary Craft Museum space.
