L.E.O., Reginald O'Neal is a painter, from canvas to wall murals. He opens Sun Beneath The Soil tonight. It is themed on everyday street life experience and portraits in Overtown, Miami, Florida. Overtown was home to African Americans in the segregation era, and suffered the indignity of highway construction cutting it and urban renewal crushing it. Where have we heard that before?
Many readers know Matt Wagner's Hellion Gallery and that he cofounded the continuing Portland Forest For the Trees (FFTT) mural project with Gage Hamilton. This gallery, the former FFTT workspace, is now their indoor gallery. It has a beautiful name, Tips on Failing. Failing early and often is the heart of design thinking. And it is on the alley off Failing Street.
