May 4 Electro Diablo Carnation

The Hellion Gallery, formerly based here, is now focused on projects in Mexico City and occasional international pop ups. This is one, Taller del Diablo. They are Cartonería, paper mâché sculptures, of devilish spirits fabricated by the most well known maker and world famous Linares family workshop. Most are designed by Portland artists. Home School at Yale Union has Bogosi Sekhukhuni from South Africa. His video works sound like an interesting exploration of spirituality, pan-Africanism and an update of Afrofuturism in an electronic performance art way. He was born in 1991, so formed in a post-1994 South African election environment. Again, the description on the YU website or on Facebook is recommended. After screening his films, he is interviewed by Home School principal Manuel Arturo Abreu, and MoMA curatorial fellow Hanna Girma.
