Our recent chair of the Department of Energy, Dr Steven Chu, speaks in Portland tonight. As cabinet member, he created new research and commercialization opportunities for renewable energy. Chu was awarded a Nobel prize for laser trapping at Bell Labs. Later he directed the Lawrence Berkeley Labs, including seminal energy efficiency research.
