The Research Club, a meetup over a pot luck brunch, is back. A few speakers make preannounced talks. It is an opportunity to share creative ideas with artists, entrepreneurs and nonrprofit movers.
Today:
Sam Smith on Community Supported Everything. In Portland and other cities we have community supported agriculture and kitchens. Kickstarter and other crowdfunding projects are often a similar model; customers providing working capital in advance of delivery of products. There is a long history of coops which the United States learned from Scandinavian immigrants. Smith talks about the Community Supported Everything Guildhall, a resource for starting new community-supported projects.
Kevilina Burbank on IncitED, a social enterprise supporting education world by means of a crowd funding platform.
Mat Lippincot - on speaking at TED, and the TED culture. Why are they so perky? Why is their selection of art and music so insipid?
Bring food, drink and your own plate cup and utensils please. The Research Club www.research-club.org at Geoloqi, 920 SW 3rd Ave #400. Noon-2PM, Talks 12:30. Free
