The Place plex, a collection of contemporary gallery spaces on the third floor of the Pioneer Place Mall, opens its new shows this evening. The White Gallery has Wish Making & Practicalities by Katherine Groesbeck. It is a meditation on the transition from childhood, where one set of almost anything seems possible, to adulthood, where it is an entirely different set. On Demand is a continuation by Michael Reinsch of making art works to order from scrap materials for $5-10, on the spot and in the moment. The Black Gallery has Solid Mind by Jamie Marie Waelchli which is a meditation on life planning and its impediments as represented by drawings and an installation of vessels of solvents. Travis Nikolai has The Breathing Room, a space for a time out to consider. Waelchli and Nikolai speak about their work in the space Sunday, February 24th at 3PM.
