March 1 Eastside Art Openings +

Fuensanta Nieto & Enrique Sobejano are Spanish architects who specialize in designing modernist structures that sit among traditional buildings in Europe. Portland's design regulations and public involvement programs have turned back more than one effort in this area, requiring brick facades, continuing lines, awnings, or specific proportions. Nieto-Sobejano also have a specialty in perforated concrete, which is quite beautiful. Tonight they visit Portland to discuss their work. Adams and Ollman is a new gallery opening this evening. They will specialize in self-taught and folk art influenced artists. Their first show will be Bill Walton, 1931-2010, a Philadelphia minimalist sculptor and print maker. If you know Portland artists, his work reminds me of DE May.
